Grise's Interactive Law School Orientation, Academic Success, and Well-Being Modules: Physical Activity to Optimize Learning and Well-Being
Description
In this three-lesson module, you explore the significant impact of physical activity on brain functioning. You also learn how to do Brain Boosts, which are short movement breaks that improve focus and productivity. After learning about the Physical Activity Guidelines, you will create your own physical activity plan based on your interests.
Lesson One, Physical Activity and the Brain, looks at the areas of the brain that impact learning and memory and explores how exercise improves brain functioning. The lesson examines research studies that find a connection between physical activity and improved learning and describes how judges and law students have embraced exercise as a way of staying on top of their game.
In Lesson Two, Let’s Move, you learn about the Physical Activity Guidelines and the three main parts of good physical activity: aerobics, strengthening, and flexibility. You are introduced to aerobic, bodyweight, and flexibility Brain Boosts. Each Brain Boost is described, and then you have the opportunity to do the exercise.
In Lesson Three, My Plan, law students explain how they have incorporated exercise into their daily activities, and you have the opportunity to formulate your own physical activity plan.
This module introduces you to a variety of ways to engage in physical activity to improve your well-being, learning, and productivity.
