American Casebook Series
West began publishing the American Casebook Series in 1908. Both historically rooted and forward minded, West continues to strive for excellence in providing outstanding scholarship for legal education course materials. Today, West continues as an innovator in the law school market, with the American Casebook Series offering a diversity of authorship in a broad range of subject areas. This allows professors many options in selecting the casebook that is appropriate for their course, all of which are sure to provide an interesting context for invigorating class discussion.

Interactive Casebook Series
Publisher: West
West Interactive Casebook Series is a new breed of casebook that provides comprehensive treatment of legal topics presented in a clear and concise format that is accessible and engaging to students. The casebook features a novel visual display and layout that uses text boxes, diagrams, and color/border segregated feature sections for hypotheticals, reference to scholarly debates, useful information for students, and questions to provoke thought. A major distinguishing feature of the book is its inclusion of an accompanying electronic version with the extensive hyperlinking to Westlaw versions of legal materials, Black's Law Dictionary definitions, supplementary online resources and more.

Learning Series
Publisher: West
These textbooks draw upon current learning theory to move law school classes beyond the traditional case method. The books have a practical focus that engages students and allows them to master legal principles efficiently. Colorful examples illustrate both precedents and reasoning; these prepare students for more complex problem solving and classroom discussion. Texts use judicial opinions only where they are most pedagogically appropriate. A host of other materials, such as transcripts and practice documents, deepen understanding of other points. Expansive teaching materials - including videos, PowerPoint slides, simulations, and writing exercises - accompany the teachers' manual for each book. These materials allow professors to customize their classes while enhancing students' learning.

Developing Professional Skills
Publisher: West
These creative and original books contain exercises designed to help students develop basic skills in legal drafting, client interviewing and counseling, negotiation and advocacy. The exercises focus on specific, granular skills such as:
  • Replying to a Client E-Mail
  • Writing a Demand Letter
  • Interviewing a New Client
  • Writing an Executive Summary of Client Options
  • Negotiating the Key Terms of a Business Transaction
  • Drafting Legal Documents
  • Counseling a Client
  • Briefing Litigation Claims
  • Negotiating the Key Terms of a Settle Agreement
Each exercise reinforces fundamental rules and doctrines learned in the classroom by having the student use this knowledge to solve client problems.

Bridge to Practice Series
Publisher: West
Legal educators recognize the need for students to hit the ground running when they graduate. These supplementary texts are designed to help students do just that. Each book contains a set of simulations, covering a wide array of issues, giving students the opportunity to learn essential lawyering skills. They put students in the roles of counselor, trial and oral advocate, and legal writer, and require students to present testimony before the trial court hearing the defendant's motion to suppress evidence. Written by experienced educators and experts in the substantive area, the teacher's manuals describe how these exercises can be successfully integrated into a traditional "podium" course.
